Over on Book Riot this week…
N/A says
Hi I just wanted to comment on your article concerning strong female characters in fiction. I agreed with you 100%, (except for about Peeta. She made him into a girl in a man’s body I definitely liked Gale better. He’d actually be helping her not her doing it all?). Female characters do seem to be guys with a braid and a hatred for anything resembling a girl. One book even had her hating roses and I love roses☹ !!!! I search hard for a book that actually celebrates a female and shows us as we are. We don’t mind asking for help when we need it. We don’t want him to be less than us only equal. We love to look nice to dress up. As a matter of fact I don’t even wear pants/ shorts etc! I only wear skirts and dresses and I’m happy doing so! If only books truly showed women as they are and not as a, ” man with a braid.”
