This Week at Book Riot

September 19, 2014 |

Over at Book Riot this week, I wrote quite a bit…

  • If you’re looking to start a YA sci-fi romance series, I offered suggestions for 7 solid ones to try out. Bonus: they’re all available entirely in paperback.
  • So you’ve read (or seen or read AND seen) Gayle Forman’s If I Stay and want to try out another YA book similar to it? Here’s a “Beyond the Bestsellers” guide to read alikes for If I Stay. I wrote this right before the movie came out and it just made it into the rotation, so if I were to go back, I’d also add Amy Zhang’s Falling Into Place.
  • For this week’s “3 On A YA Theme,” I rounded up three places to snag some YA book related art.

This Week at Book Riot

September 12, 2014 |

Over at Book Riot this week…

  • 3 YA books that are about football, since it’s that time of the year. I could have written about dozens more, so feel free to throw some other great titles in the comments.
  • I took over the weekly “Buy, Borrow Bypass” feature and talked about 4 recent graphic memoirs. They’re all really worth reading (and Kimberly has reviewed two of them here).

This Week at Book Riot

Over at Book Riot this week…

  • Take a literary tour of the Great Plains states. This was a lot of fun to write. Also, I’d hoped to find more to do in North Dakota that was literary, but there really isn’t much. Despite the lack of places to visit, it’s impressive how much literary culture there is anyway.
  • Last week’s 3 on a YA theme was about YA books made into films you could watch instantly on Netflix. Since I found more than 3 solid choices, I decided to do a second round of 3 YA films you can watch right now on Netflix this week. Except my idea of 3 is more like 4.

August 29, 2014 |

Here’s what happened over at Book Riot this week . . .

  • 3 On A YA Theme: I talked about the YA books that were turned into films which you can watch on Netflix streaming (if you’re in the US). I’ll be back next week with three-ish additional titles.

This week over at Book Riot…

  • 28 Must-Follow Tumblrs for Fans of YA: If you’re looking for a place to start your Tumblr journey, here you go. I included authors, collaborative tumblrs, and some libraries which are doing really great things.
  • 3 On A YA Theme: Astral Projection: And for this week’s theme post, I rounded up three YA books that use astral projection of some sort within them. Are there other titles you could add? I’m always happy when people offer up more suggestions for these in the comments — it builds out bigger lists.
  • 6 Ways to Become a Power User of the Public Library: If you want to get the most out of your library, I put together a tip sheet.
