This Week at Book Riot

October 24, 2014 |

Here’s a roundup of my writing over at Book Riot this week . . .

  • If you’re curious about the YA titles coming out between now and the end of the year, as well as a peek at 10 books coming out next spring worth getting on your radar now, then I’ve got the reading guide for you.
  • For this week’s 3 On A YA Theme, I’m talking about three YA novels that feature teen girls who love watching horror movies. Sometimes, it’s the small details that stick out, especially when they’re the kind of detail you remember across multiple books.
  • Like a good literary pumpkin? I rounded up 15 fun bookish jack o’lanterns.

This Week at Book Riot

October 17, 2014 |

Only one post this week over at Book Riot, as I’m in the middle of drafting a few others post-Kid Lit Con now:

  • Get ready to get scared with these three great YA horror books for 3 On A YA Theme. I talked about two books that have been reviewed here, as well as Emily Carroll’s new graphic novel Through The Woods, which was one of my favorite reads in a while. It’s one that seems like it fell a bit under the radar this year, but it’s so, so good, especially for readers who like seeing fairy tales and horror tropes reworked…with amazing art to accompany it.
This week, Becky at RA for All spotlighted Stacked in her RA for All Horror: 31 Days of Horror series. Check it and the rest of her blog out. If you’re not already reading it, you should be, especially if you’re a fan of adult books and horror.
Since it’s on my mind this week, if you’re in Wisconsin and you’re going to be at WLA, you should consider attending my session with Carrie Mesrobian on November 5, from 4:30-5:15 pm. Here’s the description:

This Week at Book Riot . . .

October 10, 2014 |

A quieter week at Book Riot, since I have been preparing to head out of town for KidLit Con. I have a pile of ideas up my sleeve for when I get back to make up for it.

  • The 3 On A YA Theme post for this week is 3 books to read if you’re a fan of the television show Supernatural. The day after I’d put it into the queue, I saw a lovely flowchart from the Pickerington Public Library looking at books for fans of the show, and I added that to the comments. Check that out, too.

This Week at Book Riot

October 3, 2014 |

Here’s a look at this week over at Book Riot…

  • I covered the monthly “5 Books to Watch For” post and highlighted a little bit of everything: some YA, some non-fiction, and some literary fiction.
  • For this week’s 3 On A YA Theme, three YA books that pay homage to Sylvia Plath.

This Week At Book Riot

September 26, 2014 |

This week, over at Book Riot..

  • I talked about the importance of celebrating intellectual freedom during banned books week, and why the idea of “celebrating” banned books week is flawed.
  • I’ve had Australian YA on my mind, too, and in addition to highlighting it here at Stacked, I talked about 3 Aussie YA titles that published in the last year worth checking out.
