Welcome to the recently-renovated STACKED books. After 6.5 years on Blogger, we made the move to self-hosting on WordPress in August 2015. As a result, some links or images may have shifted or broken in the process; if something is strange to you as a reader, feel free to drop us a line. We can be reached at stacked.books [@] gmail [DOT] com.
A little about us. . .
First, you may wonder how we know each other. Kelly and Kimberly met in graduate school at the University of Texas in Austin. Both were students in the iSchool, and both earned masters degrees in Information Studies. Both focused on public librarianship, with keen interest in books for youth and teens.
Kelly is an associate editor and community manager at Book Riot, after working for five years as a teen, youth, and adult librarian in three public libraries in the midwest. Writing, reading, and editing are her passions, and her writing has been featured in places like The Horn Book, School Library Journal, The Huffington Post, BlogHer, VOYA Magazine, and more. She’s the author of the forthcoming Feminism for the Real World (Algonquin Young Readers, Spring 2017) and the author of It Happens: Contemporary Realistic Fiction for the YA Reader from VOYA Press. More about Kelly, including her freelance editing services, writing clips, and particular passions can be found on her personal site.
Kelly can be found on Goodreads, Instagram, Tumblr, and Twitter.
Kimberly is the youth selector for a public library in Texas, which means she gets to pick all the books, music, and movies for kids from birth through age 18 for her library system. It is the very best job because she gets to spend thousands of dollars on books every year. Since she first learned how to read, science fiction and fantasy have been her passions, and she focuses on those titles at STACKED. In addition, she’s been reading and reporting on manuscripts submitted to Tor since January 2012. Read more about Kimberly and her freelance manuscript consultation services at her personal site.
